As one window of opportunity closes, another one opens, for the Environment Agency has taken the decision to open a public consultation on its draft decision over the Javelin Park incinerator at Haresfield.
The proposed site for the incinerator at Javelin Park, Haresfield.
The consultation will open next Wednesday (February 20) and close on April 12.
As part of the consultation, a public drop-in session will be held at Stonehouse Town Hall on Tuesday, March 12.
Environment Agency staff will be on hand to discuss the draft decision on a first come, first served basis at the drop-in session, which will run between 3pm and 7pm and is open to anyone wishing to attend.
One-to-one, 20-minute appointments can be pre-booked by calling 01743 283410, or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
The permit application and draft decision documents will be available to view.
The Agency's environment manager, Stuart Baker, said: "We have considered the application and taken into account all comments received from our first round of consultation.
"On that basis we have reached our draft decision.
"However, before we make a final decision, we wanted to give all interested parties an opportunity to discuss any queries or concerns they may have with us face to face.
"The drop-in session is just one way that people have a chance to make sure their views are known through the consultation process.
"All responses will be reviewed in detail. They will help us to decide whether to grant the permit and, if we do, what conditions we would need to impose to adequately protect the environment and human health."
Meanwhile, opposition councillors have tabled a motion, due to be presented at a meeting of the full council at Shire Hall on Wednesday, which has been submitted by Liberal Democrat group leader, Cllr Jeremy Hilton (LD, Westgate),
The motion calls on Gloucestershire County Council to abandon the Javelin Park proposals, insisting there will not be enough residual waste to keep the fires of the waste plant burning over the course of its life.
The Environment Agency's current position over the proposed 'energy recovery facility' - or ERF - application is: "Our consultation on Urbaser Environmental Limited's application for an environmental permit to operate an energy recovery facility to process non-hazardous waste at Javelin Park, Haresfield, Gloucestershire ran from May 18 to July 6, 2012.
"We received 27 responses from members of the public in this round of consultation, some of which were detailed and extensive.
"We are now reviewing the information gathered from this consultation, along with that provided by statutory consultee organisations and further information requested from the applicant.
"This information will be taken into account as a part of our detailed assessment of the application."
"We are inviting all interested parties to make their comments."
Those 'iInterested parties' who cannot make it along to the drop-in session in Stonehouse on March 12 can make their views known on the environmental permit application and draft decision documents online from Wednesday (February 20) via the Environment Agency's e-Consultation webpage (the consultation will not appear in the list until Wednesday).
