  I notice that people have been suggesting that politics has had a part to play in the line capacity improvements to both the Cotswold line and Kemble Swindon.  Having managed both lines for British Rail, Railtrack and Network Rail I'll add my comments.   Just when you thought it was safe to drive into Stroud, they shut one of the busiest access routes.  Yes folks for the next four weeks Cainscross Road will be closed for anything other than access to businesses (from Cainscross Roundabout only) and buses.   Following delays in the construction of the new canal bridge in town, the new date for completion is May 2011.  What's your view on this project?  I've been pleasantly surprised by the lack on issues the diversion has caused (after people worked out how to use the new temporary roundabout by Station Road!).  The whole thing seemed to move really quickly and then grind to a halt around the end of the year.
